DESCRIPTION
The Patek Philippe reference 3970 was manufactured between 1986 and 2004 across four series and in yellow gold, pink gold, white gold, and platinum, it is estimated that just over 4,000 examples were made during its 19-year production run. Powered by the legendary manually wound caliber CH 27-70 Q, based on the Lemania ébauche, the 3970 remains a cornerstone reference for collectors.
This third-series example in yellow gold, originally sold by Gübelin in December 1991, is presented in highly attractive condition. Produced between 1989 and 1995, the third series is believed to account for approximately 1,350 examples across all metals and is distinguished by its screw-back case construction. The watch retains crisp and deep hallmarks on the sides of both lugs, a detail highly valued by collectors and indicative of careful preservation over the years.
